Okay, normal life is beginning to return! I yelled, really yelled at Lacey today!
So all of the kids went back to school yesterday! Lacey was going a bit stir crazy ( I was too) so we decided a quick trip to Target was in order. She really did good, she wasn't in any pain, but she started to get a bit dizzy as we were ending the trip. We made it home safe, she was pooped! The rest of our day was good, pain is under control and our nights are as restful as they can be.
Today Lacey was itching to get out again! I had a return I had to make a Joann's so off we went! She enjoyed being out, no dizziness. We made one more stop at Marshals (she wasn't ready to come home yet) and she did really good there too. The little kids napped and she played on her computer. I decided it was a good time to do some cleaning up...the next thing I know Lacey is standing in the same room as me and she says, "Mom, look at me," then she jumps off the fireplace. After I found my words, caught my breath and made sure my heart was still beating, I YELLED. How dare her...right? I got the eye roll and everything, I'm pretty sure her hand was on the hip! I finished my rant, returned to the kitchen, turned around, and found her holding 40 pound Addie like a baby. Let the YELLING continue...I might kill this kid. If you are coming to visit call first so I can untie her from the bed. I'm glad she is feeling better, but I can't handle this! In your prayers tonight can you pray for her to know her limitations and send some sanity my way...please!
We are blessed, I know this for sure! Hugs to you all!

Better each day
It's been awhile since my last post, sorry. It's crazy to think that surgery was just ten days ago. I look at Lacey and see all that she has overcome and all that she is now able to do...amazing. The pain has tapered off a ton...in the past three days she has not had pain above a 4 ( pain level 1= good 10=bad). She is awake more, still one lengthy nap in the late morning, but then she is up for the rest of the day! She has showered, washed her hair and shaved her legs!!! We have made several trips upstairs and tons of bathroom trips...(no more blockage issues!) She has found the only chair in our house that is comfortable is the canvas camping chair that is worn and ugly, but she can manage to sit in it for about 45 minutes at a time! It feels good to her to walk, but bending over is still very painful. Our past two nights have been really good, we have found the perfect nighttime drug cocktail for her! She had her first outing today! She showered and got dressed in something that would show off how straight she was and we headed off to the last hour of church! She did great, she said the last ten minutes were really hard to sit and she was so tired. She came home and went right to bed. For a first time out, I say it was good! I know she is doing so well because we have support from so many...Thank you!

Finding a new routine!
We can plan for nothing...wide awake periods seem to happen every night right when I am ready to climb into bed. Hunger hits at the early morning hours and bathroom breaks are so frequent at night and seem to be at a minimum through the day! But, I will take it all. We seem to have a good medicine routine and she is able to do more everyday! She took it a bit to far yesterday and payed for it through the night, so she has taken it pretty easy today. We have had visitors!!! Starla Winter and two of her cute girls came by yesterday and brought Lacey some really cute PJ's! And the church girls and leaders came to visit and brought her a Jamba Juice...she really felt the love! Today her friend Claire came by and the girls sat and talked and laughed, it was so nice to hear her laugh! Also Gifty Aidoo came by to pass out hugs and brought Lacey some of the biggest most beautiful cupcakes...she can't wait to eat them...All!!!! Lacey and our family feel so lucky to have wonderful friends and family that have supported us through this journey, we are blessed!
One more high point according to Lacey...Doctors said she needs one additional week out of school before the home school teacher comes! She is excited for that!

Our first full day at home!
She is still alive, I have managed to not overdose her yet!!! We have had a pretty okay day! Lacey's pain level is higher than yesterday and I am having to give her more pain medicine more frequently than prescribed, but I feel like she needs it. Her appetite isn't as good either, but she did manage to eat her bowl of ice cream for dinner! Most of her day was spent in bed, two trips to the couch, but they were short. She made a lap around the kitchen and at least five trips to the bathroom. With all of the medicine she is taking, she is pretty blocked up (if you know what I mean) and that is making her really uncomfortable. My mom brought me kids back today...it is so nice to be all together again! We had our first at home visitor...Lisa Alverez, a sweet friend whom also just had back surgery, came by to say "Hi" to Lacey and brought her a tray of her favorite cinnamon rolls, Lacey is saying she won't share, but I know she will come around! I am hopeful for a good night, but I can roll with the punches...someone told me that "rest is for the weary" and I am for sure not weary! Love and hugs all the way around!

We're Home!!!!!!
We had a great morning in the hospital! She was on top of her pain control, I think we have a good system worked out! They took out her last IV and took of the pulse oxsometer around 11:45 this morning! They sent me down to get her med's and move my car to the patient pick up lot around noon and we headed home around 12:15! They gave her a good dose of med's to hold her through the car ride home, but it was still rough. We drove from Oakland to Dublin, the we stopped in a parking lot and met my mom and kids...they made us the best dinner (mom's food is always the best). We readjusted Lacey and made it to Manteca, we had to pull off the freeway and move her around. You never realize how bumpy the roads are until you need them to be smooth. We made it home about 2:15! She was miserable, she said her pain was 8 out of 9. Brad and I got her out of the car (she did most of it herself) as soon as she made it to the couch she was a cozy girl. She was able to get comfortable very quickly and down a bowl of ice cream within the first half hour! She has had her first dose of meds and is sleeping now! I have taken a shower (the best one ever) and am enjoying walking around barefoot (something that you can not to in the hospital). It is nice to be home! Thank you all for your continued prayers and support, it has carried us through! My prayer tonight is that I can keep Lacey alive and pain free. We have been blessed.
We are going home!
We had an okay night, a few rough spots and not too much sleep. Lacey felt great this morning and was able to get up on her own! Doctors can in and evaluated her, she is a day to a day and a half above schedule! We are out of here! They released us to go home! Lacey is excited, I am nervous, but it will be good! Thank you all so much for your prayers, love and support... It means so much to us! IV has to come out and I have to go pick up med's, but we should be home bound around noon! Much love!
